Enseigne Gabolde, the third ship of the Enseigne Roux class, had a different propulsion unit—it featured geared turbines. Taking into account the experience gathered during World War I, it was also decided to change the composition of the armament: three guns of the same caliber were mounted on the ship, and the 450 mm torpedo tubes were replaced with 550 mm ones. The design of Enseigne Gabolde served as the basis for the interwar French destroyers.
