- The construction of the second pair of Öland-class ships was canceled, and in 1951, destroyers Halland and Småland were laid down according to an improved project. The ships displacement grew by 50%, and they received more advanced anti-aircraft and radio-technical weapons, as well as new main battery guns. The lead ship, Halland, was launched in 1952 and entered service in 1955. In 1966, the destroyers were equipped with Robot-08 anti-ship missiles. With the decommissioning of the Tre Kronor-class cruisers, the Halland-class destroyers became the largest ships in the Swedish Navy.
